As a full-time resident of North Haven for 30 years, one who raised her now-grown children here, I can honestly say that there is only one responsible choice for North Haven mayor — and that person is Chris Fiore.
Everything that Chris has done since first becoming a volunteer, then a trustee, and most recently our mayor, has been for the good of North Haven. His passion for preserving this tranquil sanctuary is bolstered by his vision of its future and the keen business sense to make it happen. His boundless energy and ability to listen to all constituents, often with opposing views, is remarkable. He finds a balance. In politics, as in life, balance is what we all seek.
I share Chris’s vision. Many of us “local” families do. We want North Haven to be a place where our children do not have to leave because they cannot afford to stay. We want to move forward into the future trying to find the balance between preservation and progress, not burying our heads in the sand.
I do not need to list all of the many projects Chris has brought to fruition or is currently working toward completing. We all know what they are. It is impressive. What would happen to those projects and others like them if an individual who has never even volunteered on a North Haven committee took control?
The Fiore team — Chris, Claas Abraham and Diane Skilbred — work well together. Together, the varied strengths and methodologies of each of them bring results.
Running for office should never be done on a whim. It should be entered into with a commitment that is reinforced by a thorough understanding of the complexity of the task at hand.
Chris Fiore has proven he can do the job, and do it extremely well. He has my vote.
